Frequently Asked Questions
Does acupuncture hurt?
Typically, no. Most patients barely feel the needle or describe the sensation similar to a mosquito bite. Occasionally the sensation may feel like heaviness or pressure, which is normal.
Are there side effects?
Acupuncture is considered a safe, noninvasive treatment with minimal side effects. Minor side effects may include local soreness and bruising where the needles were inserted.
What kind of needles do you use?
We use hair-thin, sterilized, disposable needles made of stainless steel. Needles are never reused.
How long do treatments take?
The first session will take longer, lasting 60-90 min. Return treatments are 45-60 min.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept many insurances, but coverage depends on your particular plan. We are in-network providers with United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Amerigroup, and more. Please call us to verify your acupuncture benefits under your insurance plan.
How much does it cost?
The cost depends on the condition being treated and the modalities used. For non-insurance patients, we strive to make the cost affordable.
